variety of small packaging of the ‘Crème de la Cream Company’
in the Netherlands (Zaandam). On demand of the foodservice
industry they developed a new line of small packaging product,
named ‘The Portion Company’. For the range of spreads they have
chosen the 30 ml mini jars from PET-Power. The lightweight mini
jars have the appearance of glass but their weight is substantial
less. Available are three varieties of jam (strawberry, apricot,
raspberry), hazelnut paste, honey and peanut butter. Besides the
spreadable range they produce portion packs like chocolate and
fruit sprinkles, sauces, dressings, salt and pepper. Would you also

| back | Hammam tradition at home A cooperation between PET-Power and her Belgium dealer Verbeeck
Packaging, has resulted in two marvelous new products from Yves
Rocher. The 89 mm PET jar with a coloured aluminium cap (supplied
by Verbeeck), is filled with a body peeling and a body balsam product
from the new line called ‘tradition de Hammam’. This is a good
example showing that international cooperation results in a product
with a professional charisma for retailer and consumer.

| back | Bathroom friendly packaging designs PET-Power (Holland, tel. +31 76 5038283) has developed two new PET bottles for shower gels.
Starting points in the discussions to reach a perfect product were:
• cosmetic look
• the use of a flip-up closure
• smoothly fitting of bottle and closure
• glass clear body
• unbreakable body
• decorating by labelling or printing to be possible
• stable end result
The expertise of PET-Power was used to combine all the requirements of the clients and the result is: self-promoting product thanks to a perfect combination of bottles, caps and labels. The closures are made in different colours and the transparent self-adhesive labels offer the consumer a clear view of the shampoo. The impression given is of quality and elegance. |
| back | Sweet PET A French customer of PET-Power's (Etten-Leur, Holland) recently discovered the versatility of our PET jars by developing in-house a model for packing and presenting of their candy. With the co-operation of our own design department and the broad preform database we have available, developing this jar only took 6 weeks. After that the customer placed his products into the market and immediately experienced the result of the new packaging through a higher turnover.
The clarity of the PET jars allows the customer to see clearly the contents, and the high gloss effect of PET reinforces the Quality impression. Thanks to the specially chosen shape (conical/hexagonal) the jar looks larger than in fact it is. It can be filled easily because of the wide-mouth neck-finish (100 mm) on which a PP screw cap fits. A white self-adhesive label completes the package.

| back | Dry energy drinks are a winner on the sports fields In a new approach to the fast growing sports drinks sector a range of high energy drinks in powder form has been launched. These are pre-filled into a PET bottle from us, and the consumer adds the water at the time of use. The 300 ml bottles have a wide (40 mm) neck that makes for easy powder filling, as well as being mouth-comfortable for the user. The benefits of this dry approach are many - greatly increased shelf-life, making world-wide distribution a real possibility; a huge reduction in weight - a boon to the distributor, retailer and user alike - and the opportunity for the consumer to dilute with different volumes of water according to need or circumstances.
A new preform, with a 40 mm screw neck finish and tamperevident retaining ring was developed by us, and the final design is ergonomically correct, making for ease of handling under active conditions as shown in the photograph.

| back | Say it with Flowers Cosmetics are just an illusion ". It has been said and could be true but the market continues to grow because the demand is there. And the demand is for clear and powerful packaging to maximise the impression the consumer gets of the product. When you look at this picture, you see a hand-packed blossom drawing the buyer to the bottle because of its intrinsic beauty, simple but effective. The thin-walled PET bottle gives a lens-effect to the liquid contents, magnifying the effect and the appeal. A carefully designed label and neck collar complete the picture, giving a package that is both pleasing to the eye and light and unbreakable in its properties. This is why more and more marketers demand for PET. |

| back | A Dream is Realised On Friday 24th April, just four months after work started, we were proud to welcome local dignitaries and representatives of the world’s packaging press to the official opening of our newly extended production facilities and warehouse. Among the honoured guests were Mr M.v.d.Ven, Mayor of Etten- Leur and Mr Shigeto Aoki, president of Aoki Laboratories, Japan. The production area has been doubled in size, to over 2500 square metres, in which are currently installed 22 of the latest Aoki SB250 injection stretchblow machines. With six more soon to be delivered, and a further ten scheduled, we anticipate achieving our total capacity of 38 machines next year, announced Managing Director Kees Killestijn. Within the production hall a separate ultra-clean room has been built for the pharma sector (our fastest-growing market) and other demanding applications.
Adjacent to the production hall, a completely new warehouse has been built, having a capacity of more than 8000 pallets under a single high-level roof. Sealable loading bays allow three jumbo trucks (out of a fleet of six dedicated vehicles) to be loaded simultaneously under very clean, and energyconserving conditions. The new site layout is as shown in issue 4 of PET Focus. With these new facilities we can now provide for any current and future customer requirements, optimising all production and logistical situations.
